Farming and forestry have been earlier the main livelihood, and this can be also seen in a landscape as a traditional agricultural appear. As a memorial of Second World War Venejärvi has “Kärsimysten maja”-hut, which consist two dugouts and old tomb. There is a historically remarkable piece of evidence about the tar burning traditions near by the end of duckboard. Tar burning-traditions are still kept living by the active villagers and tar burning shows are kept as a part of local events.

Pasmajärvi has Tirroniemi summer camp,- and children’s camp centre in a beautiful peninsula by the lake of Pasmajärvi, and old historical mill of Siikajoki-river. Pasmajärvi has own village shop and the snowmobile track runs through the village from Ylläs to Rovaniemi. There is renovated old school ”Elf school”- where some events are held for tourists at Christmas time and catering services by reservation.

Villagers’ society in Siepijärvi works actively for organising Rökäs- skiing event and at summertime for locally well-known Rökäs- paddling event.  Laestadius- hiking route is supposed to be tourist attraction to the area as soon as completed.
