The Municipality of Kolari

Kolari is a municipality of about 4000 active inhabitants and it offers a variety of services to everyone. Kolari is known as a growing tourist attraction because of its international skiing center Ylläs. In Ylläs you can enjoy of many cultural events too. For example a popular jazz festival in the end of January – Ylläs Jazz Blues or another music festival Yhtä Laulua Ylläs in the end of August. Pure and untouchable nature is municipalities pride and joy. You can go trekking, hiking and cross-country skiing, downhill skiing on the slopes of Ylläs and enjoy the beautiful wilderness view.

The aapa mire area of Great Teuravuoma offers good facilities for nature tourism experiences too. The majority of aapa mires are located in Finland. According to the European Unions Habitat Directive, these mires are classified as habitats of prime importance. Walking on the Telatie- duckboards is a safe way to enjoy mire views on Teuravuoma area. Three villages – Kurtakko, Venejärvi and Teurajärvi – are located around the Teuravuoma mire and there are several services available for local inhabitants and also for the visitors too.
